The Word Wall is an innovative and learner-friendly classroom practice aimed at enriching students’ vocabulary and improving their language skills. New, useful and textual words are displayed prominently in the classroom wall, along with their meanings and contextual usage.
Students are encouraged to identify, learn, use and revisit these words regularly through classroom discussions, writing activities, quizzes and peer interaction. The practice makes vocabulary learning continuous, visual and engaging rather than limited to textbook exercises.
The Word Wall has helped students expand their vocabulary, improve expression, develop confidence in speaking and writing, and use new words appropriately in different contexts. It also promotes active participation and independent learning.
Key Impact: The sustained implementation of the Word Wall practice has contributed to improved vocabulary, language expression and overall English performance. The effectiveness of the practice is reflected in the school achieving the highest Performance Index (PI) in English in Gurugram Region for two consecutive academic sessions:
2024–25: PI – 88.09
2025–26: PI – 83.93
Thus, the Word Wall has emerged as a simple, sustainable and effective best practice for vocabulary enrichment and improvement in English learning outcomes.
